Fall '94 Shoreline N2
To be honest, I only listened to the second set, so will hold off on an official rating. I'll revisit the first - which looks OK, clocking in at around
...
55 minutes - at a later date. Wasn't particularly enticing at the moment. At any rate, the second set wastes no time jumping into that Grateful Dead weirdness. Solid pre-drumz third quarter segment with the Playin'->UJB->Corrina->Terrapin. Some struggle at the start of Terrapin but I just love these '90s Terrapin codas. Check it out starting at around 10 minutes. Space is the place. Unofficially: ***

Wife parks car
Before the show, to park, we were directed on the back dirt road which became a parking lot. I could tell the show was to start soon and told my wife

to park the car as I had to run in. That's better than paying my ticket. Luckily I was able to catch Jack Straw, (she didn't, but she was not as big a fan as I). JS was incredible; like when the volume and energy just blows you away. You say to yourself, how are just six guys doing this? I often close my eyes and pretend that I am there again. Bertha, where some would generally catch some sleep, was also awesome. "We love you Jerry" was heard several times.

Hot show
I was at this show! It was in my senior year at UC Santa Cruz and this was really the culmination of my dead experience. My belief is it was 'magical"-
...
the show that is. It was a time when clearly lots of people were there just for the party or experience but the music was always there just waiting to be heard ann for those of us who listened and heard in person, there is a different slack given to jerry's voice; he was doing the best he could; I liked the way it sounded so I always went to shows as often as I could. My belief is that this show resonates as the perfect send off to summer-I started school a week later(we were on the quarter system). Anyway, terrapin was a 'monster jam' as has been said here. I sensed that Jerry was inspired in his song selection- I always wonderd how extemporaneous the song selection was. ..even corrina , it rocks. This show was special because even as early as '89 I sensed JG slipping away. The songs here seem to echo that feeling, especially stella blue. I recommend this show fully. Don't just listen but hear the music. I think its great that new kids are experiencing the dead- the only way any one can now-via modern media. Its a 'good thing' to have 'kids' listening to this music and digging it. I remember seeing my first show in '87 in Hartford (there is a kind version in the archive here: 3.26.87 and 3.27.87...)...everyone is turned on at some point and it all starts with tapes and unfortunately media is all we have now. RIP JGB. 5 stars because JG brings it all home in this very fine show, and it was special as next year's run would be the last of my life.

Magical and 4 stars, that doesn't make sense.. hmmmm were you high when you wrote this?? Also do you want a cookie for going to the show. Your so cool
...
because you have been to dead shows!!! When I read reviews, I want to know how the show sounded, and I tell you these kids give much better reviews cause all they have are these downloads, and they rate the downloads on sound and playing. Man, I hate downloading shows were you burned out hippies give it five stars cause of the "magical" marshmellow wars you had on acid were fun. (Or whatever story's your rating it by) Fun times doesn't mean five stars. I don't know how many Dead shows I see on here with five stars and they sound like crap. Just because you been to shows doesn't make you any more "the vetran" than the kid reviewing the show. These shows should be rated on sound and playing, and these kids do excatly that. Some of them know more about the dead and have heard more dead shows then much of us who went. Aperantly, you know little about the dead cause dead heads don't treat other dead heads or people in general, that way. But you were proably the guy who just showed up for the party, and never really got what it is was about anyway. Too bad for you! Anyhow, good show for the year.

Great Show
To start with, I never got to see the Grateful Dead live (except on video, of course) I did catch Ratdog in Wash, DC the day before Jerry's memorial

where I met Bobby and I got on the bus. That said, I like this show. I am not a big fan of Vince but it does look to me that fall '94 was a period where the Dead had their act together and some good shows resulted. I'm downloading this and recommend you do too. I give it 5 stars cos the energy and feeling is there.

What a night!
This was the show where I got it, and even listening back ten years (and thousands of hours of Dead listening) later, it's exceptionally strong, especially
...
for the near-the-end era. This was the Dead's second-to-last run at Shoreline, and the last one where they actually played well. Highlights include a monstrous Terrapin, and and a Stella Blue that's out of this world. Over heard in the bathroom after the show : "How'd you like that Stella Blue?" "Yeah, that was the way it was *meant* to be played!" This is a great soundboard recording, too, much better than the Auds I have (or had).
Despite the date, this show is actually very good! Jerry is sounding like his old self again, singing strong and getting all the lyrics, and gliding through
...
solo's without any of the bum notes or uninspired, repetetive playing that was so common in '94. This is more like a '91 than a '94. Recording is good too. You're sure to like it! I would give it 4 stars if it was pre-'94 but given my surprise of finding such a good show for such a late date I give it a 5! 3-6-05 Update - JimJody, I saw the Dead only 3 times, but I did see them my friend..please get your facts right before launching in to unprovoked rants..
