He's Gone
July 28, 1973
Grand Prix Racecourse

holding hands in a circle vibes... mammoth summer 73 he's gone>truckin>nobody's fault>el paso that's soul soothingly crunchy. Godchaux masterclass, phil bombing, and an overall relaxed but killing after hours feel. all the great versions of this song for me combine an "on" coda with exceptionally high energy jamming to follow almost as if composed, such is the way with which they slam in. 73-74 seems to have many such moments, preordained medleying. Truckin is by the numbers, transition and nobody's is elegantly snappin', graceful minstrels and jongleurs of a dropout bohemian's eve, cookin with pure blues. Brief pinchy space goes right into a great el paso echoing the big river from a song prior. Again phil and keith are hot in the mix and it's a great night
