The Other One

kind of shocked i've never heard this, there are simply "TOO" many great 72 TOO's to wrap my head around the excellent improvisational music that the Dead were slingin' out night after night. Having been out in the Western US mountains this summer there is something kind of earth shatteringly insane about the vibes out there when you are an east coast kid. Its simultaneously enthralling and also menacing the endless expanses out there... Its uber psychedelic... I love dead shows from colorado they always just rule.

godchaux's solo is really something... probably his finest moment. Another one of those times when you just know the heads in attendance must have been freaking out, feeling everything dissolve into the oneness. It doesnt get much better than Bird song for me and the GD. for me it's the perfect combination of mournfulness and levity, structure and improv, meaning and mystery. Kreutzmann's touch on this is just crazy man, he really got in there and is perfectly straddling the fulcrum of pocket. Garcia is unbelievable, tidal surges of emotion in every freaking note the dude played, he was obviously one of those freaks who lived and breathed music. Stupendous bird song, i feel like you can't go wrong with this tune.
