Uncle John's Band
March 18, 1992
The Spectrum

Easy breezy with the glinty afterglare of yore. Drifty transition to boot. Nice twilight septet memory making.

Hard hat 92, bluegrass plinky. Alchemical goop-laden improv. bluesy panache.

touching simplicity of row bridges the bullet-train nowness of this ripping bizarre banger. Post-capitalist freako jazz hair metal..

Uncle John's Band
March 24, 1990
Knickerbocker Arena

Spring 90 magic. Pitb is totally solid. Unfocused but jazzy and energized. Brent is trying to get weird with it but the others don't follow him. A stellar Uncle John's Band follows, pitch perfect and generous.

Lazy Lightnin' -> Supplication
May 22, 1977
The Sportatorium

uber killing version. Vocal harmonies are so crispy in this whole show, as many have noted before, it doesn't get better than Spring 77 for Dead vocals. (and maybe just in general too) Jerry's soloing can really do no wrong on this show. Sugaree and franklin's tower are simply masterclasses and it continues on this Supplication, it's fast furious and clear, yet always melodic and never over-playing to the point where it's not musically rich anymore. Every note is played with utmost purpose and conviction. The build, like in all the best LL->S's, is quite something
