Dec. 6, 1973

Train rippin' down the hot coals of the 1973 track.

Drums
April 12, 1978
Cameron Indoor Stadium

Can't believe I'm submitting this. Long and fun drum circle that's notable because our Jer Bear whips out a steel pan and joins in.

It Must Have Been The Roses
Oct. 31, 1990
Wembley Arena

Jerry tearing the standards book asunder with this elegant poetic brilliance

Big River
Oct. 31, 1990
Wembley Arena

For a few minutes wembley in '90 becomes the fillmore in the summer of 1970, the way the Dead just slide into a no-nonsense Big River. Shivers

Loose Lucy
Oct. 31, 1990
Wembley Arena

Smokin' and refined version of this deep cut, on "All Hallow's Eve" as a chap might say

Eyes Of The World
Nov. 17, 1973
Pauley Pavilion - University of California

Epic Eyes that goes on for nearly 20 minutes.
Bird Song
Aug. 27, 1972
Old Renaissance Faire Grounds

Astonishing. Just beautiful
Dark Star
May 25, 1972
Strand Lyceum

i remember there was one time last fall where I packed two bowls of girl scout cookies and stumbled upon this, and I think that day, if only for a half hour or so, I genuinely lost my conception of identity and completely subsumed into this DS. There's plenty of avant-garde fuckery, flaming Jerry shredding, and even some rippling Steve Reich-esque ensemble passages. This is a "heady version" I would say.
Mississippi Halfstep Uptown Toodeloo
Sept. 3, 1977
Raceway Park

Jerry putting it all out there and the rhythm devils raising hell. Englishtown 77 is in the top gigs of many Deadheads out there I am sure. The stuff of legend. To me this mississippi is an essential piece of musical history
Not Fade Away
April 30, 1977
The Palladium

Insanely high energy, crackling NFA. My go-to.
