another spicy jambalaya rendering from this configuration. Tight and loose simultaneously with excellently intuitive coasting byway jamming.

barrels in and kicks ass. Definitely some first show of the year magic on this. Revives the blues/soul energy of set 1 to leave us smilin' and dancin

Thrilling and ominous. gets totally cranial, still retaining the pitb main ten for the duration. Excellent tonal space.

Drums
Oct. 30, 1980
Radio City Music Hall

Super heady and glorious drums. I love the Mahavishnu Orchestra, and fusion Miles (in addition to all eras). It's a wonderful delight to have Billy Cobham on this version. I fucking love the Grateful Dead but comparing Cobham to either Kreutzmann or Hart is like comparing Picasso to talented art school students. Both have a toolbox, just a different approachEven so, the drum solo is just as powerful and locked in as some of their really "On" 80's ones. I would say that greatness recognizes greatness all around. Great musicians work together to make something bigger than the sum of the parts.
