They Love Each Other

another spicy jambalaya rendering from this configuration. Tight and loose simultaneously with excellently intuitive coasting byway jamming.

barrels in and kicks ass. Definitely some first show of the year magic on this. Revives the blues/soul energy of set 1 to leave us smilin' and dancin

Drums -> Space

Thrilling and ominous. gets totally cranial, still retaining the pitb main ten for the duration. Excellent tonal space.

loose kinetic cannonball energy and more fluid acrobatic bluesy group playing deserve another shout out tonite!

Uncle John's Band

it's party time with the grateful dead in SF, and this is a phenomenon unto itself, before you factor in selection and performance. This OMSN->UJB encore continues the nostalgic angle of tonight's hot show and gives both Godchauxs a gleaming feature, then Jerry and Mickey fire as this iconic gd track takes a firey hold of everything. This show doesnt have a meh moment. I'll probably listen to 3/20/77 tomorrow
Sugar Magnolia

Stunning 77 show, a particularly cerebral Franklin into a little sprinkle of some heady magic with an impassioned, red-hot and tight half-time tempo Sugar Mag! and nice long suspenseful sunshine daydream into an explosion, can't ask for more!
Wharf Rat

Touching, just ascendant and absolutely shredding, right into Franklin's to boot. the flowing melodies and exciting rhythmic bursts balanced with constancy make for a rather excellent uninterrupted 2nd set. there's never a bad time to dive into august west's surreal hellscape of a chronicle. let's be real. the "i'll get up and fly away part" is simply incredible stuff

incredible speedy version with everyone stretching out into new spherical zones of action, bliss, comin' atcha quick hard and sky-rocketing toward circles of blissfullness!
