Drums
April 12, 1978
Cameron Indoor Stadium

Can't believe I'm submitting this. Long and fun drum circle that's notable because our Jer Bear whips out a steel pan and joins in.

For a few minutes wembley in '90 becomes the fillmore in the summer of 1970, the way the Dead just slide into a no-nonsense Big River. Shivers

Public Hall

Firey and insistent early Loser, rollicking and demanding
Bertha
Dec. 6, 1973
Public Hall

Explosive Phil as I sit down to roll a joint and begin this classic Grateful Dead set.
Playin' In The Band
Sept. 11, 1974
Alexandra Palace

Ummmm whoa whoa whoa aBIG 74 pitb from dick's picks vol. 7, london england. What everyone's already said x100. Some GD jams push our limits sonically and physically and others instead, make us curious and draw us further in and create a level placid plane for us to ponder over. This Playin' is more in the second category.
Dark Star
Aug. 27, 1972
Old Renaissance Faire Grounds

Haha, "scary"? nah i get it - The contents of our own minds can be scary and this inner reflection is what to me all the best Dark Stars start to investigate. A benchmark locked-in experience this DS is. Hot hot hot fusion chops fest - you can hear the classic coltrane quartet influence. Tornadoes and icicles, soft flowing streams of sheets of notes. intuitively logical. going into el paso after this must be a nod to Kesey and Babbs, in some way. it's as "heady" a move as u could possibly get
