Jerry plays Bob's double time rythym in lead at the end. Unique and intense.

Lazy Lightnin' -> Supplication

The band is absolutely on fire during this night, the first set and on this duo. It amazes me that this amazing show is totally forgotten.

Lazy Lightnin' -> Supplication

Kansas City Municipal Auditorium Arena

This is the best looking modern first set ever on paper. On paper. I could name a dozen from 1981 that are better played though. But it is still very good.

Yeah, I was there. It was a total shock. For a minute there we thought they were actually going into Sugar Mag. Check it out again to see what I mean..It rocks.
Scarlet Begonias -> Fire On The Mountain

Nassau Coliseum

Ha ha ha - they did not play Scatlet > Fire on Halloween 1979.. I was there.
Scarlet Begonias -> Fire On The Mountain

Better than Dicks Picks 6 from beginning to end and one of the best Scarlet > Fires ever. The transition jam is amoung the greatest ever and features a moment that sounds like Dark Star 2-13-70 right before Fire. Really. Listen closely, it's there.

Well, let me straighten out what happened as I was there. Jerry's amp was out as they came out and began the second set tuning for Scarlet. This went on for minutes as the repairs dragged on and on for over five minutes while the band minus Jerry continued to not just tune but do a little Scarlet Jam... Bob suddenly launched in to Passenger while Jerry was still down and you can hear Jerry come on during the beginning of the first instrumental - thankfully! After that, things moved on in more predictable fashion, except the whole pre-drums had been redealt in unpredictable fashion... ;).
