Uncle John's Band
May 9, 1977
War Memorial
cruelly overlooked encore to a classic show...hot jam section, reminiscent of '68...deserves to be heard

Sing Me Back Home
Aug. 27, 1972
Old Renaissance Faire Grounds
This is still THE ONE. Who else but the Dead could play a slowed-down down-home deathhouse lament near the end of a day-long summer concert and manage to achieve a moment of such sublime psychedelic transcendence?

You know this SPACE is getting hot!
Morning Dew
May 26, 1972
Strand Lyceum

Knickerbocker Arena
One of those times where you gotta hear the AUD to fully appreciate it. Near the end of the second solo, it sounds (feels, really) like the entire arena is hitting a trip climax simultaneously. Then, "LAST..." The whole band hits it super hard. Gives my blood goosebumps
Candyman
Oct. 29, 1980
Radio City Music Hall
Serious pathos when Jerry hits "hand me my old guitar..." Easily my favorite
