One of those note-for-note perfect versions that leave you staggered and smiling. Just beautiful.

Not a song I usually get so swept up by, but on this one Jer's vocals are just perfect, capturing the sweetness and sorrow of the lyrics. A beaut.

China Cat Sunflower -> I Know You Rider

High-powered and tight. This show has nothing but complaints about the mix on the archive. Listen to the Ashley transfer, and see what you've missed.

Tomorrow Is Forever

Such sweet harmony, such sweet sentiment - turning on a dime after the white-hot Dew. Shows the beautiful country chops Donna at her best brought.

Nobody's Fault But Mine
Oct. 27, 1972
Veterans' Memorial Hall
Jam starts at around 05:45, never fully forms. Am I crazy? This sounds like NFBM and it continues about 3min into TOO. Very very cool stuff here.

Dark Star
April 28, 1971
Fillmore East
Not just a trip down memory lane, but a great demonstration of how far they'd evolved in two years after the peak TC era. It also sounds fucking great and twists and zigzags wildly and would have just been perfect to peak along to with a few thousand close friends....
Morning Dew
April 28, 1971
Fillmore East
Note for note perfect. May be my favourite of all time. I just keep coming back for more again and again. Love how it drops all the way down to pianissimo, just a delicate little whisper over the unmistakeable chord changes, then rises up and burns the multiverse into a smoking crater.
Hard to Handle

Fillmore East
Most pleasing and excellent. A right hot jam.
Playin' In The Band

Denver Coliseum
Remarkable for how it's interwoven between everything else in this brilliant set, but simply amazing for the intense musicality and complex collective interaction during its jams.
Playin' In The Band

Fillmore East
They're still building it into what we know from '72 onward, and listening to them in sequence is a great ride. This one stands out from others of the time for exploring a slower, unfamiliar groove. Sounds a bit more like the original "Main Ten" than others in April '71. Interesting and fun.
