Playin' In The Band

This is a weird one. At times it seems like they forgot it was PiTB and went back to the HSF jam. Fun, but waaaaaaaaay loose.

Lazy Lightnin' -> Supplication

Short, sweet, brand new, and flawless.

Brilliant early "slow version". I always prefered the desperado fast-paced ones, but this turns into a brilliant exploration and improv vehicle.

Uncle John's Band

Winterland Arena

Uptempo, powerful, strong vocals. This is top shelf UJB. With David Crosby for that extra oomph, and with a tigh outro, it's strangely not here yet.

Jack Straw

Like every other song in the first set, this is just pristine, air-play level perfection. Beautiful fills by Keith here, too.

Turn On Your Love Light

Winterland Arena

The teeny-weeny NFA is just beautiful. This song (and whole show) fn rocks.
The Other One
April 15, 1970
Winterland Arena

Well worth it's place amongst the top Other Ones of all time (à la GD projects). Unique, high voltage jam, massive '70 sound at its best.
Weather Report Suite
Dec. 18, 1973
Curtis Hixon Convention Hall

This one has it all. One of the most energetic LIG's yet (listening chronologically since its debut), especially in terms of the new pathways they explored in the jam. Goes seamlessly into a beautiful Dark Star too, i.e. Dead heaven.
Greatest Story Ever Told
Dec. 18, 1973
Curtis Hixon Convention Hall

Hot stuff. Jerry's in absolute total command of his guitar. The band is so tight. For a song that sometimes seems like an afterthought, this one shoots out sparks.
China Cat Sunflower -> I Know You Rider
Dec. 18, 1973
Curtis Hixon Convention Hall

A sparse and airy China Cat jam, like feathery clouds, and then they just keep kicking into higher and higher gear until we're cruising at high speed in the outer atmosphere. Real pretty.
