Help On The Way > Slipknot > Franklin's Tower

So many brilliant ones, but you're missing a real treat if you count this one out. Particularly strong Franklin's but the Slipknot! is brilliant too.

I suppose everyone knows the one the night before, but this one is tighter & more overwhelming in that all-encompassing 7/4 mindmelt way.

The Music Never Stopped

Airtight version with perfect orchestration. Especially sweet vocals with Donna Jean at her best. Never quite lifts off in the jam though.

How has this whole show been overlooked? I know '76 is generally undervalued, even by '70s fans, but c'mon, this is smokin' hot stuff.

Gorgeous vocals and a beautiful ensemble feel. This show is seriously underappreciated.

Help On The Way > Slipknot > Franklin's Tower

This suite cooks from the first notes. The Slipknot is the stuff of legend, and the Keith-Jerry interaction in Franklin's is just brilliant. Just when you think the energy is petering out Keith heats it back up. The whole thing feels like a pot of water simmering just under the boil: Thousands of happy little bubbles just ready to go.

Headiest or not, this cooks. Right around three minutes in you can hear them shift gears and flip into overdrive.

Ignore the haters. Donna sounds super sweet on this uptempo and funky standalone. Listen to the Charlie Miller (as always) if you don't believe me.

Beautiful harmonies, powerful ensemble playing, and a great crisp sound make this one a keeper. Comes out of a killer LIG too.

Thanks for bringing this immortal show back up. The Lee / Miller AUD is brilliant. Check out how Billy feeds Phil during his solo. God, '74 was a monster year full of peak Dead.
