Dancin' in the Streets
July 17, 1966
Fillmore Auditorium

Cuts out in the out-chorus, but shows the initial move from cover band into exploratory jams and bendy form. Very cool testament to where they were.

Pig is in perfect form, the band throbs behind him with intensity and purpose. Pristine recording.

Cream Puff War
July 17, 1966
Fillmore Auditorium

A rip-snortin' wild ride. Not as stretched out as the day before, but still an explosive starting pistol at the earliest days of the Dead.

I Know You Rider
March 12, 1966
Danish Center

Still in its infancy, but listen to Jerry swarming all over it like ten thousand honey bees. Lightning fast, almost a "let's do this for 50 years".

Let It Grow
Sept. 10, 1974
Alexandra Palace

Not my favorite WRS of the year, but one of my favorite LIGs. They just crush the jam coming out of the lyrics, as the man said.
Loser

Alexandra Palace

Very hot version from a chronically underrated show.
Estimated Prophet
April 26, 1977
Capitol Theater

This song was still in its infancy and to my ears this is the first one that really tuned into to the freaky frequencies that turn the best ones into the high-potency medicine that can either keep you grounded or freak you out: The off-kilter, odd meter, voices-in-the-head "na-na-na-na-nas", the protagonist's screaming madness, and the triumph of Jerry's solo on the edge of sacred illumination. Play this for anyone who thinks '76 is 'too slow'. They are way up on top of this on and Billy and Mickey just open it up and own it.

Thanks darkstar67! I'll check that out. I love how the Tapers Section just keeps on keeping on. I dig the Tobin Matrix for this show too :https://archive.org/details/gd1976-06-10.matrix.tobin.84985.sbeok.flac16/gd76-06-10d2t07.flac
