Samson and Delilah

Stunning. Chronically underrated song in a chronically underrated year: Listen to Jerry blaze through this like a man with 100 fingers.

Note for note brilliant. Jerry is blazing over the band with one brilliant line after another. Great set capper.

Community War Memorial Auditorium

Solid emotionally charged version with a great balanced soundboard right as the Fall tour kicks into blistering hot gear.

Samson and Delilah

Fall of '76 is peak time for Samsons, and this one just struts. Great feeling for this under-the-radar show.

Stella Blue

Nassau Coliseum

Peak musicianship and total communication of the band at one of their most telepathic moments as a group. Jerry's vox is sublime.

Ship of Fools

Sweet treat indeed. Jerry's voice is perfectly rescued in the C.Miller upgrade, and the band is a graceful waterfall behind him.
Lazy Lightnin' -> Supplication

Capitol Theater

Nice angular sparkle to the whole jam here.

Hot streak. This and the NMB before it just come ready to party. We know in retrospect the wall-to-wall peaks from April-May '77 but can you put yourself in the scene and imagine thinking... what the fuuuuuuuuuuuuuck just happened? Weren't these guys mellow just a few months ago?
Not Fade Away
April 23, 1977
Springfield Civic Center

Kieth continues his visit from the future experimenting with synthnoise settings that could have easily been from the ten years later. Set's a cool groove with what sounds like a Moog/DX7 and Hammond Organ rig around 5 minutes in while Jerry and Bobby are slowly boiling everybody's brains for what must have been a long strange trip to round out the set.
Goin' Down The Road Feelin' Bad

This one really deserves its spot on the front page, even for a a song played 300 times more or less over the years. Like much of this show it seems tentative at times but of a sudden turns just colossally confident. The oomph that everyone mentions is real, and they orchestrate the highs and lows to perfection.
