Good Lovin'
April 21, 1971
Rhode Island Auditorium

Insights and meditations on life love and picking up hookers from the great one. See his mind at work, jump on the wagon and ride.

Hard to Handle
April 18, 1971
Lusk Field House - State University Of New York

Overlooked gritty superfunk. Bobby solos, then Jerry takes him to school. Phil, meanwhile is nuking the world big time.

Goin' Down The Road Feelin' Bad
April 17, 1971
Dillon Gym

Subtle and musical, slithers its way into an epic Lovelight. Nicely different from others of the era, no NFA sandwich.

Hard to Handle
April 14, 1971
Davis Gym, Bucknell University

Another raging inferno. Benefits enormously from a great mix where everyone's audible and you hear Bobby's part. Hot stuff.

Wharf Rat
July 25, 1972
Paramount Theater

Carries forward the intensely creative force of the TOO before it. A glory.

Mind Left Body Jam
July 31, 1974
Dillon Stadium

A bit faster with a stronger back beat, this one stands out for its forward motion - not a 'lay back and watch the clouds float by' MLB - and then it tricks you into a slow bluesy mode before the Spanish Jam. They were clearly having fun inventing new melodies, moods, and places in the jam.
Bird Song
Nov. 19, 1972
Hofheinz Pavilion

Certainly rates higher than its present two votes! Giver 'er a listen heads: This is a glorious adventurous beauty right on the cusp of transition from the '72 to the '73 sound. The real deal.
Eyes Of The World
July 31, 1974
Dillon Stadium

Relentless driving jam of intense musicianship: It just never gives an inch, then suddenly floats like a dandelion seed on a summer breeze into a magical China Doll. Boy did these guys know how to treat their audience well, that's for sure.
The Other One
Aug. 6, 1971
Hollywood Palladium

First (?) WRS quote in the re-entry after MAMU. Unmistakably there in the first minute. Cool to know they were working out what would become Wake of the Flood material as early as this.
Bertha
July 31, 1974
Dillon Stadium

Phil zone heaven on a version very different from others of its time - like they decided to experiment with it just for fun. Underloved, different tempo, different vibe. Lots of fun.
