Cryptical Envelopment
Jan. 30, 1970
The Warehouse

The intro isn't much, but the outro just swells up and hits you in the head like a bag of hammers. Explosive power. Outrageous.

The Other One

Massive crunching slammer. Wrongfully ignored show. Hot Cryptical outro, too.

Good Lovin'

The Warehouse

Why is this classic and historically important show ignored? They sound great here. Enjoy.

Easy Wind

Smokey gut-bucket blooze. Damned fine.

Great vocals and wild harmony with a sweet jam from an historically important show.

Playin' In The Band
Nov. 7, 1971
Harding Theatre

Sounds like Keith's on a honky-tonk acoustic, well mic'd (amplified (well who knows maybe otherwise too)) for this cool '71 version. Phil's all over it too. Really hot show - just amazing how they're pushing and pulling against the melody before the out chorus.
Beat it on Down The Line

Surf punk! 10 years before the Sex Pistols. Who said these guys were hippies?!
Cold Rain and Snow

Total '67 insanity. Fully shredding, the fastest version I know from back when the boys were considered menaces to straight society. A raging mad maelstrom with a penchant for dosing the uninitiated. This whole show explodes.
Eyes Of The World
June 30, 1974
Civic Center

Show is something different from the juggernauts from earlier on the tour, so doesn't get all the love it deserves. This Eyes is so inventive and exploratory, subtle yet bizarre. Great stuff. Nice Slipknot tease around 11:15. It's the 2nd one in the show after the melt from UJB back into Playin' earlier.
Scarlet Begonias
June 30, 1974
Civic Center

The groove, the groove: Captures the complexity and beauty of Scarlet all the while up on its toes for a traipsing sensual and funtime dance-along. Hot mellow summertime Dead goodness like all the best of '73-'74.
