Sugaree
Nov. 22, 1972
Austin Municipal Auditorium
Fantastic show opener, meaning business straight out of the gate. Solid, swinging pulse and great keywork from Keith.

Big Railroad Blues
Nov. 19, 1972
Hofheinz Pavilion
Powerfully locomotive version with lots of fun behind it.

Mexicali Blues

Hofheinz Pavilion
Extra pop and stomp all over this one.

Me and Bobby McGee
Nov. 15, 1972
Oklahoma City Music Hall
Not everyone's favorite song, but I love it. This is an uptempo, airplay-tight, and beautifully sung version. Faster than most.

Big Railroad Blues
Nov. 15, 1972
Oklahoma City Music Hall
Turns on a dime from the cerebral extended PiTB jam into a coal-burnin' tight jam with force and power. Hot stuff showing off their limitless range.

China Cat Sunflower -> I Know You Rider
May 19, 1974
Portland Memorial Coliseum
Ok, that's the real deal. 17 and 19 May '74 are both just amazing shows and amazing CCS>IKYRs. Seems like they had finally ironed out some of the kinks in the Wall of Sound. Yee-haw!
Help On The Way > Slipknot > Franklin's Tower
Sept. 28, 1975
Lindley Meadows, Golden Gate Park
Slipknot is really powerful, extensive and searching. Powerful enough to put a woman or two into labour apparently.
Black Throated Wind
May 19, 1974
Portland Memorial Coliseum
The song seems chronically underrated, perhaps because some of the rhymes are predictable/amateurish. That said, I think the emotional arc of BTW is up there with their best songs (who hasn't felt this powerful after a break-up?). And this one is just killer, deserving its place in the rankings.
China Cat Sunflower -> I Know You Rider
May 17, 1974
P.N.E. Coliseum
Perfect melodic soloing in the China Jam, great transition. Killer show.
Playin' In The Band
May 14, 1974
Adams Field House, U of Montana
Little help here? Not sure that's a Supplication tease - someone else recognise it? Addendum from months later: my bad... It's very clearly a 'dancin' in the streets' quote. It came to me while listening to Dark Star from 23.06.74 for some unidentifiable reason.
