Brown Eyed Women
Nov. 13, 1972
Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall

The Bear tape is a bit over-saturated, but the band is just killing it from all corners. Don't pass this one up out of aud-o-phobia.

China Cat Sunflower -> I Know You Rider

Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall

Look for the Bear recording, which is the proper speed: You'll find a killer version with an explosive transition than just soars.

Loser
Nov. 13, 1972
Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall

Jerry's diamond hard-edged tone slices and slashes achingly, hauntingly, and clear desperado mode.

Bird Song
Nov. 12, 1972
Soldiers' and Sailors' Memorial Hall

Just Jerry, Phil, and Bobby are audible in this weird tape - but what a study of their communication. Worth a listen for that alone.

Channels missing in the SBD (no keys, quite vocals), but if you want to study just Jerry's solo, (and it's a killer one), then give this a spin.

Playin' In The Band
May 17, 1974
P.N.E. Coliseum

There, right there, at 11:15 in: Phil melts every single brain in the house. He does it again around 17:20.... Seriously, though it seems that Phil's interest in electronic sounds, leading to Seastones later this year, (and ultimately to the Space segment), starts becoming increasingly evident during this tour and this Playin' shows it.
Scarlet Begonias

Adams Field House, U of Montana

Fresh and energetic. Sounds like they'd been rehearsing it a lot for the Mars Hotel recordings. Donna reproduces her "solo" from record almost note for perfect note.
Greatest Story Ever Told
Aug. 27, 1972
Old Renaissance Faire Grounds

A song that never gets the love, but Jerry just shreds it so massively. We know the boys could soar, tweak, trip balls out, and steal your face, but they can also rock and rock hard. No further proof necessary, here it is.
The Eleven
Oct. 20, 1968
Greek Theatre - University of California

A whole lotta Dead packed into this: '68 coming on like the big bang that shoots you out of a bright sparkling cannon until you land somewhere in the mid-70s....
China Cat Sunflower -> I Know You Rider
March 23, 1974
Cow Palace

Somewhere in here they just take of and soar, transforming this from an interesting show into an epic one. Great version.
