Greatest Story Ever Told

Electrifying set opener (I think) that shows off that St. St. connection brilliantly.

Jerry's backup vocals give this one sweet emotion. Chronically under-appreciated song.

China Cat Sunflower -> I Know You Rider

Tight, nice CC. Seems like 1st moment of the set the band is firing on all cylinders. Trans. stretches to great IKYR.

Bird Song

Compelling version with Jerry exploring new ideas. It doesn't quite soar like other Fall '72s, but still stretches out and worth a close listen.

Pity the SQ is so flat, as this one cooks up nice and hot, with some extra melodicism in the outro jam before D>TOO. This show needs a SBD infusion.

Keith's musicality on display too. His accompanyment to Jer during the climax is top form.

This one has all the blazing voices in the head on the verge of madness trippiness that the great Estimateds can bring. Bobby's perfect.

This one pokes you in the eye and demands your attention. NOT backgroud music.

From the first note this version just rocks. Jer's all over it on his first solo, which is quite different from other BEW of the time. Lovely "oooh oooh" harmonies from Bobby and Donna, too.

Not only 22 minutes, but 22 interesting, musically exploring solo-after-solo minutes. My new favourite.
