Smokestack Lightnin'

Gut bucket blues. Pure danger from Blue Ron. Hard to figure why this ain't already here.

Sweet little rare tune.

One of those versions where it sounds like every note is just the embodiment of perfection.

Uncle John's Band
Dec. 2, 1971
Boston Music Hall
Shredding solo over the 7/4 section and lots of dark power here, though there are some mix issues and maybe some tape speed wobble. Clean versions?

The Other One

Pauley Pavilion
Totally overlooked: An intricate, mercurial, and explosive monster masterwork. Overshadowed by but totally different from the enormous 12/02.

Nassau Coliseum
Three part harmony on opening verse. Keith with Bobby and Jerry? Doesn't sound like Phil. Nice.

Just wonderful. Nice long smooth jamming opening up a great show. Maybe my all time favourite.

Salt Palace
One of the most challenging and musically interesting TOOs ever. Starts with a great Phil solo; There are sections that sound like Jerry's MIDI work from 15 years later (!), a Phil-driven jam in 5/4 time around 08:00 and a wicked meltdown. A+
