Jack Straw
Dec. 31, 1972
Winterland Arena
Like every other song in the first set, this is just pristine, air-play level perfection. Beautiful fills by Keith here, too.

Brown Eyed Women

Dec. '72 turns out to be a nice little peak for BEW. Perfect shuffle, air-play tightness, great soloing, just enough country. Bobby nicely audible.

Winterland Arena
A super-fun frolicing romp. They just seem to have loved playing this tune.

Brown Eyed Women
Dec. 15, 1972
Long Beach Arena
Pristine, air-play quality in a deep pocket with note-for-note perfection all 'round. Surprised not to see it here already.

Mexicali Blues

Smokin' desperado polka here with superbly tight playing at a faster-than normal pace. A galloping riot and heaps of fun.

Scarlet Begonias
July 14, 1976
Orpheum Theatre
Super fine yes, but chilled out? I'm not so sure... By '74 standards the whole year is chilled out, but this SB grooves hard and goes deep in for over 10 minutes. One of the best stand alone versions, for sure.
High Time

Orpheum Theatre
This is an absolute beauty. Good call. This show needs a bit more love, folks.
Let It Grow
July 13, 1976
Orpheum Theatre
Can't update the version that I submitted, but I can recommend that you heads get yer asses over to July 13, 1976 and give this one a spin. It has one of the tightest, musically coherent and spotless drum solos in LIG that I know, and the whole thing just lights everything around it on chemical fire.
Cassidy
July 13, 1976
Orpheum Theatre
Play this for anyone who still insists a) that '76 was a chronic drag; or that b) Donna didn't sing beautifully when mic'd and mixed correctly.
Pretty Peggy O
July 13, 1976
Orpheum Theatre
Peggy-O doesn't usually strut or swagger, but this one does. There's a bit more oomph to it, even at the laid-back tempo of the era. Seems like Billy and Mickey kick it forward, adding a back-beat shuffle that serves the song nicely.
