Wharf Rat

Red Rocks Amphitheatre

This is really, really good. Not spring 74 wharf rat excellence, but pretty awesome. Generally not a fan of 78, it’s usually a much lesser sounding version of 77. Billy and Mickey were often painfully out of sync, transitions were clunky, and (as previous reviewer noted) Bobby’s forays into slide were usually gadawful. Jerry’s best moments in 78 were with JGB (see for example 3/17/78). But 78 had its moments and estimated through franklins in this show was really freaking good.

Sweet version. My favorite. 93 was a GRATE year!
Not Fade Away

Ohio Theatre

So, so good. Hadn't listened to it in years. The whole St Stephen-NFA-GDTRFB-NFA is delicious. I'd call it the best if not for Bob's gadawful screaming to close the reprise. Come on Bob! ; )
Dark Star
Nov. 11, 1973
Winterland Arena

A nice version, some really neat jams at the beginning and some good Phil moments throughout. A bit too much aimless noodling in spots to make it a top 10 or 15 version in my book, but that's just personal preference obviously. The best thing about this Dark Star is the segue into a jaw-dropping MLB jam (maybe best ever?) followed by a sublime eyes and China Doll. Great sequence!
