To Lay Me Down
June 20, 1974
The Omni

Keith and Phil flutter around Jer's vocal and then he steams in with his lead. Soft harmonies, sweet sounds...

Someone who loves this combo is more qualified to comment on this - but seems pretty good.

Oh wait a minute this is the track that is going to melt all the snow in the NE - seriously. Spin it and you will see - sheesh.
Cold Rain and Snow

Philadelphia Civic Center

Hey with Augusta '84 sitting at the top - I'd like to hear what anyone thinks of this one - same year different tour. More Jerry in my opinion and it rocks a bit harder tho both are very similar sounding. It's one of my favorites and I think top notch for the decade. I'm gonna go blast this in my barn along with some early Cautions to melt the snow later up here on the Midcoast.

Definitely different take here and it is clear they were having fun (see drum break) but I have to say the 1st half is a mess to me (not that I really care) cause the goods are always in the jam to the break and then the SSDD. And while I normally love Jerry's soaring note picking over a full gallop on my favorite SMAGS (ex. 3/23/72) ANY SONG with Jerbear BLASTING chords instead is a winner. +1 with a grin.
Playin' In The Band
