Scarlet Begonias -> Fire On The Mountain
April 20, 1984
Philadelphia Civic Center

This whole Scar>Fire combo remains my all time fave for actual attendance from 5:15 to 5:50 a huge transference of energy - we were all hooting when Jerry startied cutting up and then the whole place screamed "The Wind in the Willows played tea for Two!" Transition into FIRE is incredible and the FIre is a monster that does not disappoint....dig for it and you will see.

Niice Fire here - The Devils are kickin hard with Mickey on that jungly vibe work and then the band hits that point that I remember so well from the best '80's shows when the whole f#ing band sounds like a gigantic diesel/steam/nuclear engine that screeches screams and scrapes bends and melts - shit is it gonna blow? Maybe! Healy was stepping on his bigfoot pedal at the board for this one.....
Terrapin Station

Hampton Coliseum

The ancient old man counting stars by candlelight - wise Jerry spins the tale of a place called Terrapin and then the massive energy pulses begin.... check the Eaton/Miller - remarkable 2nd set with a crushing Dew. Use phones for the warm wash of sound - beautiful recording.

Bobby Weir just kickin ass on this one here what an ending...Jer's carving away (alas faintly) while Bobby and the rest of band beat the shit out of their instruments - whew.
