U.S. Blues (Wave That Flag)

Winterland Arena
An overlooked version because of the famous movie version from the 19th October, but good and on the money.

They really groove on the outro vocals-no shrieking, just driving on and on. Not at the top but a VG 78 version

Keith's piano-thanks ,Man. Good to know that I'm not the only one who does stuff like that! I've done this sort of thing with Deal,Alligator,Cosmic Charlie,St Stephen. comparing early with later and so on. What better way to pass the time? P.s absolutely great show. Go listen to the first ever Terrapin Station which they open with!

Mountains of the Moon
March 1, 1969
Fillmore West
There are some little runs of GD shows in certain years where some songs or combinations are just exactly perfect. And for me this Feb-March 2 69 run is the case in point for Dupree's diamond Blues> Mountains of the Moon. Also for the St Stephen>the Eleven as well.

Dream Bowl
I rave about this show. It's one of the very best of their whole career.
Dupree's Diamond Blues
Feb. 27, 1969
Fillmore West
All 4 nights of this run are superb. Amazingly, only the D.S & St.Stephen made the original Live/Dead album. Each night is worth listening to. This Dupree's> Mountains of The moon is a case in point. TC's delicate organ figures, the gentle strumming and ethereal singing of Jerry contrast beautifully with the fun fair, merry go round Dupree's Diamond Blues. What a month for this combination.
