Casey Jones
Dec. 26, 1969
McFarlin Auditorium, SMU
The music sounds like something you'd hear being played at a carnival.

I'm talking about Pigpen's work on the keys. Everybody in the Dead would tell you he was a below average player for a high profile professional.

Vince!!! He totally takes over the outro jam and puts Jerry in a backup position. If you think Vince sucks and he was the worst ever on keys - seriously, Pig sucked - give the last 3 minutes of this a listen to. You will be pleasantly surprised.
Bertha
Oct. 15, 1977
Moody Coliseum - Southern Methodist University
Awesome tempo for 1977, driven by an outstanding performance by Phil.
Jack Straw
Dec. 31, 1971
Winterland Arena
Listening to it, I'm like "Who's that other guy on vocals?" and then I realize it's one of Phil's best jobs putting in some harmony.
Promised Land
May 25, 1977
The Mosque
Overrated 1977. It's good, but it's not THAT good. It certainly isn't better than 9-18-90.
