Heavens! It took a Dave's Picks to get this on the board! Soft, seductive, dark, and pretty much perfectly realized. Guitar break: shit yeah.

Estimated Prophet

Winterland Arena

Bold, sharp, confident version with plenty of 1977 squoosh. This version has that great '77 restraint with Garcia speaking in MuTron tongues.

Brown Eyed Women

Kiel Auditorium

Attention. To. Detail. - ESP Weir. Not the world's greatest recording, but the band is bubbly & effortless.

China Cat Sunflower -> I Know You Rider
July 31, 1971
Yale Bowl, Yale University

Listened to this on a big PA outside over the summer and it's so alive, athletic, and filled with beautiful instrumental cross-talk. Improv!

Playin' In The Band
Dec. 2, 1973
Music Hall

Breathtaking entrance into the space out. Sets a rich, elegant tone and slips easily into gear. Then things get really weird.
The Other One
May 16, 1972
Theatre Hall

Ragnaroar - hard to argue with that. It's epic.
Here Comes Sunshine
March 28, 1973
Civic Center

Some of these early '73 Sunshines get short-shrift b/c they're aren't as exploratory as versions from a few months later. There's really nothing lacking in this baby.
Cumberland Blues
March 28, 1973
Civic Center

What an alarming Strat attack in a show opener! My general take on a Dave's Pick is that if it involves Garcia playing a Strat, count me in: 4 please.
New Minglewood Blues
April 29, 1971
Fillmore East

If all Minglewoods were like this, I'd tune them in more often. Everyone is slaying on this version - especially Kreutzmann and Pig. As good as this song gets - and then some.
