Me and My Uncle
Nov. 17, 1971
Albuquerque Civic Auditorium

Two things: (1) the middle of a searing Other One > MAMU > Other One fest and (2) Garcia loses his mind (or mine) at the end of the solo.

Cryptical Envelopment

Drop dead gorgeous, lithe, and restaurant quality perfect.

Clear To Hell - Hear how a luscious Candyman absorbs a crowd in NC.

China Cat Sunflower -> I Know You Rider
Feb. 23, 1971

Lately I think of Port Chester. Fab 4 Alignment. Limber. Ambidextrous.

St. Stephen
Dec. 29, 1969
Boston Tea Party

The peak is like a merry-go-round spinning out of and back into control and then, albeit briefly, out and in of control again.

Bird Song
June 10, 1973
RFK Stadium

They make a 55,000 stadium into a small club - intimate, detailed, shy, bold. I've spent a lot of time in that palace and I don't really get how they did it. A lovely Bird Song from a great show.
The Other One
March 1, 1970
Fillmore East

Jesus F! They truly bring the молодой. 1970 is the Year of Champions. Dave: "It's fucking awesome!" Spot on, Dave! Peacefully violent, if that makes any sense. Probably doesn't. Still-life: group at top of game. Although this is at the Family Dog. You do realize that, right?
Eyes Of The World
May 18, 1977
Fox Theatre

One of the truly undervalued Eyes I can think of - it's gorgeous, silky, contemplative May '77 and it's Eyes. There's nothing not to dig. I love the long, languid intro and, as always during this time, the expert dynamic control. Or should I say LE expert dynamic control? No, I shouldn't. For a large group, anyway, with two drummers, that's nuts. And this is just a peak time for Garcia - it's the peak of lushness, but it's also some of his most seriously daring playing. He'd moved his playing to a place most guitarists don't even think about.
Here Comes Sunshine
Dec. 19, 1973
Curtis Hixon Convention Hall

Agree with ed_bob: the Miller SBD is so much more lively than Dick's Picks 1. To fully appreciate just how great the Sunshine is, go to the Miller. Insane guitar interplay. I have no clue if this THE BEST, but it's a home run. Kreutzmann nips at Garcia's heels until @6.30 when Garcia cranks into another gear entirely. And as always happens when you have an elite player, he makes those around him better! The group meets Garcia's challenge. Or maybe its Garcia & Kreutzmann's. (challenge)
Help On The Way > Slipknot > Franklin's Tower
July 12, 1976
Orpheum Theater

Listening in the car - still digging. The GD at their tight/loose best. Garcia’s unadorned guitar beautifully adorns a group chugging on all cylinders.
