At :30 Pig switches from tambourine to organ and we're off! These early '71 performances showcase Kreutzmann reveling in sweet space. Driving.

A delicate, tight, searching super early version of a staple. Kruetzmann plays it light and springy and that 1971 Lesh caramel bass guitar!

If you know this smooth customer of a show, you know how drynamic [yes, I typed that] and user friendly this TJ is. An always welcome visitor.

Few things better than a June '76 Sugaree. Garcia with the first Travis Bean just sketches with the lightest, barest of precious metal filaments.

Summer '72 Jed: Sweet dynamics & precision engineering. Weir & Kreutzmann stir it up during Garcia's guitar break.

I love 77s, 73s, 76s - one of my favorite songs in one of the all-time great shows. You can see Garcia in a straw hat & footlights - gleefully bashing out elegant, umami guitar trails over a crazy tight ensemble. Chef's kiss.

A beautiful version and a beautiful recording. https://archive.org/details/gd1978-04-14.sbd.miller.83717.sbeok.flac16/gd78-04-14d2t04.flac - they have everything in complete control. See also 10/18/78. A lovely one.

The only archive copy: https://archive.org/details/gd72-07-21.sbd.cotsman.9246.sbeok.shnf - the sound is OK. The Download Series version is better. Either way, a killer show from the PNW and well worth your time.
The Other One

Something different was afoot in London. This version brings plenty of fury from across the sea - sometimes '72 Other Ones are absolute faves (the invention, detail, and excitement), but somehow I hadn't listened to one recently. This tight motherfucker is case-in-point. + Garcia is flying, careening over and through the proceedings, but, if it's possible, everyone stands out. This one develops its own landscape and micro-climate. One brain stuff. Fucking great.

Lovely two guitar dance work. Everyone's in high spirits and exuding warmth. A very '72 Sugaree, which is pretty cool.
