This one is the sound of a band that knows it can do pretty much anything. Smooth and fiery.

Jack Straw
Sept. 21, 1972
The Spectrum

Agreed gwelch3 - this is prime filet country right here. The kind of Jack Straw you'd want your middle daughter to marry.
Brown Eyed Women
Oct. 10, 1976
Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum

Cascading peals of Garcia silvery, clean Travis Bean loops. And yes, the song. Great, fun-loving version.
China Cat Sunflower -> I Know You Rider
May 19, 1974
Portland Memorial Coliseum

In the Gallery of Greats.
Samson and Delilah
July 12, 1976
Orpheum Theater

Started the day off with this little sports coupe. I'm not a big Samson & Delilah guy, but these '76 versions have some real sparkle. Part of it is how uncluttered and spare they are and another part (definitely related) is Garcia's sterling, clean guitar.
Terrapin Station
April 27, 1977
Capitol Theatre

Nothing like playing a challenging new song yr excited about, killing it, and seeing people groove along with it.
