Me and My Uncle
Nov. 17, 1971
Albuquerque Civic Auditorium

Two things: (1) the middle of a searing Other One > MAMU > Other One fest and (2) Garcia loses his mind (or mine) at the end of the solo.

Cryptical Envelopment

Drop dead gorgeous, lithe, and restaurant quality perfect.

Clear To Hell - Hear how a luscious Candyman absorbs a crowd in NC.

China Cat Sunflower -> I Know You Rider
Feb. 23, 1971
Capitol Theater

Lately I think of Port Chester. Fab 4 Alignment. Limber. Ambidextrous.

St. Stephen
Dec. 29, 1969
Boston Tea Party

The peak is like a merry-go-round spinning out of and back into control and then, albeit briefly, out and in of control again.

Tennessee Jed
Nov. 12, 1971
San Antonio Civic Auditorium

Completely agree with Rockclimber here. Some songs are basically fool-proof in '71. Jed, Loser, Other One, China > Rider, NFA. Many more - I often (more often than not) land on 1971 when just looking for top-drawer Grateful Dead. What a diverse, cool year of performances.
Feel Like A Stranger
May 1, 1981
Hampton Coliseum

Hello envelope filter of my dreams! A sparkling, dreamy, light-on-its-feet Stranger from a favorite 80s show. A favorite 80's venue. And, yes, a really detailed, open audience tape. The more to follow Garcia down the rabbit hole a little bit.

Yez. That's the one I'm cruising on. A sneaky great show (butting up against some more heralded siblings).

Thanks darkstar67! Out of the blocks this one cooks! Garcia in dandy form.

This is a neat, sweet Deal. Just a little swagger but also still feeling it out. The rhythm section controls the dynamic, really pushes and pulls.
