Truckin'
Jan. 24, 1971
Seattle Center Arena

Easily overlooked show - the Truckin' opener is a giant tidal wave red carpet.

Not Fade Away

Academy of Music

Picture Perfeck Academy of Music NFA! Kreutzmann and Weir scoot this gem along.

The Other One
Dec. 12, 1970
Santa Rosa Fairgrounds

Adventure soundtrack - the group plays out a number of scenes. Garcia's the acrobatic narrator for the most part. Superb and interactive.

The Other One
Dec. 10, 1969
Thelma Theater

Big and round. Lesh is the wacked-out chauffeur. What a cool, bizarre run.

Big River
Nov. 20, 1973
Denver Coliseum

A strike-zone era Big River. Smooth & prickly.

Cold Rain and Snow
Aug. 25, 1972
Berkeley Community Theatre

Perfect opening stride and tight as tupperware. Strong vocals and Kreutzmann's snare stand out. Easily one of the best. Has everything you want from Cold Rain & Snow.
Ramble On Rose
Nov. 11, 1973
Winterland Arena

I was at 7/7/89 and it was swell. But comparing it to one from 1973 seems terribly unfair. This one is elite in every possible category. This is a favorite show - Kruetzmann's fabulous in the pocket all show. The start of this version showcases his groove. Guitars are ace.
The Other One
Jan. 22, 1978
McArthur Court, U of Oregon

Epic. As I knew it would be.
Terrapin Station
Jan. 22, 1978
McArthur Court, U of Oregon

Tall & crisp. Not the precise, minutely-detailed fractal universe it was in Spring 77, but even when it's rough around the edges, it's elegantly so. A serious fucking Terrapin.
Tennessee Jed
Jan. 22, 1978
McArthur Court, U of Oregon

This classic always repays a visit. Simply one of the top 3 post-break TJs. And I love it nearly as much as '72. Just floats on a very earthy cloud. You know.
