Me and My Uncle
Nov. 17, 1971
Albuquerque Civic Auditorium

Two things: (1) the middle of a searing Other One > MAMU > Other One fest and (2) Garcia loses his mind (or mine) at the end of the solo.

Lately I think of Port Chester. Fab 4 Alignment. Limber. Ambidextrous.

St. Stephen

The peak is like a merry-go-round spinning out of and back into control and then, albeit briefly, out and in of control again.

Kreutzmann and Weir go atomic - fantastic version from a classic show.

Oh sister! I love this show - and this version has it all! Fab revisit!
The Other One
Oct. 29, 1973
Kiel Auditorium

Should be better recognized. Silky smooth '73 groove and then they cross over into the netherworld. Garcia, as usual, is sublime. The group and he are almost in a dialogue - supporting the other when each loses his/its mind. Then @12:30: the bottom drops out: pure abstraction but with a melody. Yes, Garcia's trying to lead them back into the song, but the band is in its own spirit world. Almost lost forever, Garcia reels them in and it's all on again. A melodrama.
China Cat Sunflower -> I Know You Rider
Oct. 23, 1973
Metropolitan Sports Center

Driving version - love 1973 Dead. Never liked the Feelin' Groovy jam, but this one is top seed material. Godchaux is on top of matters.
Bird Song
Feb. 21, 1971
Capitol Theater

Although the new WD 50th is quite lovely. Lesh is playing an electrified redwood.
