DP7 opener, not show opener (although it opened 9/11/1974). Slash & burn. The interplay between Godchaux's Rhodes & Garcia is a favorite feature here. When Godchaux switches to grand piano @8:00, the palette changes in a subtle way. Master class.

Loose and kind of all over the place, but Lesh really keeps things heavy and together. This one gets better as it goes and, when it's over, it's been a pretty interesting little trip.

It's all ocean-fresh and delightful, and then things take a mysterious, dramatic turn @3:00 and the group takes us to another level. And the cut is about as kind as it can be - all of a sudden you're in the middle of Xanadu. A fab Dark Star!
