Heavens! It took a Dave's Picks to get this on the board! Soft, seductive, dark, and pretty much perfectly realized. Guitar break: shit yeah.

Estimated Prophet

Winterland Arena

Bold, sharp, confident version with plenty of 1977 squoosh. This version has that great '77 restraint with Garcia speaking in MuTron tongues.

Brown Eyed Women

Kiel Auditorium

Attention. To. Detail. - ESP Weir. Not the world's greatest recording, but the band is bubbly & effortless.

China Cat Sunflower -> I Know You Rider

Yale Bowl, Yale University

Listened to this on a big PA outside over the summer and it's so alive, athletic, and filled with beautiful instrumental cross-talk. Improv!

The Wheel
Oct. 10, 1976
Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum

I don't really separate these two nights. This Wheel is a highlight either way. Part of a big cosmic stretch out. Lovely.
Eyes Of The World
March 30, 1973
Rochester Community War Memorial

The intro alone is worth the visit - Godchaux going all Debussy on us. The breaks are mellowwww in the nicest way.
Dark Star
April 28, 1971
Fillmore East

Sometimes this is my favorite version of this group. Spacious but some interesting, gothic TC flavorings. A really interesting time - they were developing and changing so rapidly. There is much to love here.
Terrapin Station

Hartford Civic Center

Beautiful entry by Weir. They were really playing this song as a narrative by now. Top notch.
Playin' In The Band
May 28, 1977
Hartford Civic Center

Really some of Garcia's most beautiful playing.
