A cozy little delight - hand percussion, contemplation, great stereo drums, and some rip roaring riffage. Comes in under the radar, but worth a visit.

As much as I love May 77 Sugarees, Spring 76 is where it's at for me. Subtlety, separation, and Garcia's whispery, silver-dipped guitar breaks.

Candyman

1978: Prime weather for Candyman. This performance, like many from then, highlights the bleak world of the narrator. Garcia's break: spidery.

Bubbly, bratty storyboard version. Character & twang for miles. I'd pay to see this band. Two for a tenner? Four please.

Terrapin Station

This is a very sweet Terrapin. Everyone's fired up to play it. All you need to do is watch the vid to see the pure joy this brings Garcia. Memorable.

Loser

Yeah mellowspace, this '77 version is super-integrated. You can hear all systems go. Garcia's got the half-harmonics screaming - some ass-kicking feedback leakage. Possibly the most ferocious Loser guitar explosion ever. Fantastic.

Can't decide between the Dusborne and this: https://archive.org/details/gd76-06-15.sbd.bertha-ashley.8732.sbeok.shnf/gd76-06-15newd1t02.shn

My favorite 1976 Sugaree is still probably 6/15, but there are many worthy competitors.
Playin' In The Band

Another subspace narrative from '76. Agree w/Phigment - a lot of story in a relatively brief telling. They move from episode to episode with vigor and in high spirits. Not sure what that means. But a robust Playin'!
