Me and My Uncle
Nov. 17, 1971

Two things: (1) the middle of a searing Other One > MAMU > Other One fest and (2) Garcia loses his mind (or mine) at the end of the solo.

The peak is like a merry-go-round spinning out of and back into control and then, albeit briefly, out and in of control again.

Scarlet Begonias -> Fire On The Mountain

Winterland Arena

No - not definitive, but a lovely rendition that brings its own charms.
Help On The Way > Slipknot > Franklin's Tower
Oct. 1, 1976
Market Square Arena

Not sure this trinity can be done a whole lot better than this.
Scarlet Begonias -> Fire On The Mountain

First time out? VERY self-assured and smooth! Great, high-spirited Scarlet, but you can sorta hear the excitement/jitters. That's how good they were - even w/some discomfort, they just fuckin' kick its neck off! As it were. I imagine the crowd was like "where's this jam going?" NEW THANG! The envelope filter sounds like its coming out of the sea! STINGRAY! + I'm not sure I know what Garcia's singing, but the words in this song are sounds > meaning; not sure I've heard Garcia sing the same thing twice w/this number. + That said - WOW THE GUITAR! Garcia amidst one of his several peaks.
Estimated Prophet

The Mosque

grendel - I too have much love for the 10/29/77 Estimated. A gem.
Tennessee Jed
Sept. 9, 1972
Hollywood Palladium

My sense is that any TJ from 1971-77 is going to be, at least, zesty. Some are super kick! For some reason, I tend to focus on 1972 and 1976, but I've heard a few 1973 versions recently that kill. And 10-26-71 (see Download Series #3) is on fire & a personal fave.
