Searing version - groovy false start, then Garcia soars like an acrobat. Plug in!

CRUSH. Hard to believe they brought this intensity and dynamic precision all the time then, but they did! Ace!

War Memorial

Unknown Genre - iTunes. Kreutzmann drives this hovercraft - as he seems to in all of the great Berthas of this time. Look out for the guitars.

Have always loved the San Venetia tapes - almost like an x-ray of the GD. You can so hear the guitar architecture. So tempted to make that one word.

The Eleven
April 23, 1969
The Ark

This is such a great show (an Ark Box anyone?) - you know The Eleven's gonna kick down the door. The little organ stroll by TC at the end of the jam sets the table for a sizzling transition into The Eleven. And, as always, Garcia's SG narrates in loops and bubbles and some natural overdrive. Blistering!
The Other One
Sept. 9, 1972
Hollywood Palladium

An absolute beast. About as out as this song gets, but always under/in control.
Feel Like A Stranger
Aug. 10, 1982
Iowa Fieldhouse - University of Iowa

One of my all-time favorite versions of this song!
China Cat Sunflower -> I Know You Rider
Sept. 28, 1972
Stanley Theatre

I find it hard to believe this has only 10 votes. The is top pants C>R! Weir alone is worth the price of admission. $10.
St. Stephen
Oct. 25, 1969
Winterland Arena

Lesh is in your face - and it works just fine thanks. Rich, chocolatey - this could have been his tone forever and I'd be like Yeah!
