Voice shot, Garcia hums through his spidery 13 lb. guitar. With a lovely China Cat peak @4:30.

Clearly they're having fun with this one - chuckles and all. A good, slightly all-over-the-place version, and Garcia's guitar break is a disorganized mess - and yet super cool, too! Almost sounds like a rehearsal. And I don't think that's a negative.

I came up with this version on a friendly audience, but this is a kick ass, decisive board. I love it when Garcia kicks into the first couple chords of the initial verse. With aplomb!

Yeah - a great month for this song.

How have I stayed away from this for so long? Everyone's taking a light touch throughout most of China Cat, which sorta guarantees some dynamite dynamics to come. Sounds like a sales pitch - which it may well be.

High energy w/some of that Spring 77 glove-in-hand smooth. Plenty of push and pull. A favorite Garcia-Hunter number done right.
