Jed As Tight Little Pop Song. Tight and snappy, enthusiasm for a new classic.

Smooth, silky, and that unique silvery June '76 Garcia sound.

China Cat Sunflower -> I Know You Rider
March 28, 1972
Academy of Music

LeshPhilling makes much sense. This one is a serious open road joyride with vapoury twists in the road now & then. China Cat is where guitars go to listen to guitar. Love it.
Scarlet Begonias
Aug. 6, 1974
Roosevelt Stadium

The segue from a swingin' Playin' makes this one groove like a red Impala. A decadent, sweet version.
Playin' In The Band
Aug. 6, 1974
Roosevelt Stadium

An already insane Playin' enters another zip code entirely at about 13:45 with Garcia riding a quasar-buzzing repeat phrase that just makes too much sense. Into a SWINGIN' Scarlet & back. Deluxe.
Box of Rain
March 20, 1986
Hampton Coliseum

I was there and it was definitely a celebration. I remember being amazed the event wasn't a headline in the Hampton paper the next morning. It's a pretty good version, but yeah: the crowd reaction is so ecstatic. Like the Hampton '89 Dark Star, it's the crowd reaction that really makes it.
The Other One
May 29, 1971
Winterland Arena

Just heard this version for the first time at the gym. Wow! Crispedelic! Lesh's bass is, as noted, woodsy and lush, and Garcia strikes the perfect, clear clarion call. Beautiful, spacious, (basically) four-piece goodness. Into a great Wharf Rat! This was such a great version of the band.
