You can hear the swagger in their mutterings before they play. And the performance bears that out. Sure, smooth, and effortless.

Letter perfect - the Godchauxs take this to a loftier level. Beautiful dynamic push-and-pull by the whole group.

Planting the Flag of Civilization on this tight scorcher. New from factory - Inspector #9. Under penalty of law, this tag may not be YEAH GARCIA!

Dreamy, motionless rendition on a sea of individual human reactions [audience tape]. A wonderful time for this gem.

At :30 Pig switches from tambourine to organ and we're off! These early '71 performances showcase Kreutzmann reveling in sweet space. Driving.

5/19 is an all-timer for me, too. There is a point in 5/8 where Garcia's slaloming through with the push-button sound of the envelope that, at various times, enters into parallel space. Some of the most insane guitar playing ever. This version shares many of these laudable qualities. I suddenly sauntered into a Grey Poupon commercial. Surry.

Lesh sets the parameters and controls the flow of information. In chocolately fashion. A lovely sprightly (and still fairly gooery) Garcia outro brings this one-act play to a sweet close. I love these Spring '77 stand-alone Estimateds. Maybe the peak of this song for me.

One of the all-timers. Garcia's muted playing in the beginning is a tell. You know this one's gonna go places.
