Best Acoustic version I've heard from a lesser appreciated show...Jerry's vocals are spot on and very and some very nice soloing. Tops any Warfield

A very consistent version of a song they had a hard time with live. Better than any Warfield version I've heard.

New Speedway Boogie

Studio- Wally Heider

Unknown date, released on the "Fallout From the Phil Zone" cd. The performance is on par with any of these, and the sound quality smokes them all.

This version being so low on the list is inexcusable. So much energy. It leads off my 22 hour "Long, Strange Mix" playlist

My single favorite Dead jam.
Dark Star
Aug. 27, 1972
Old Renaissance Faire Grounds

I think this is the one where the Dark Star finally really crashes. You guys really nailed this one. I had never heard this one before, and it's just amazing. One of those rare jams where every member is so locked in with each other that it's impossible to concentrate on what any one person is doing for longer than a couple seconds before the beauty of the whole just takes over again. And then it just crashes into the ethos and shatters into a million pieces. Frightening is right. Wouldn't listen to this one on strong acid.

All the way. Classic mellow Jerry/Keith headiness.

Not a lot of love for Europe '72 in general on this site. I love this version.
