They could hardly screw up the "hard" songs in Fall '72, much less EP

I think '71-'72 was probably the peak for this song...

Typically great '72 version, falling between a great "Tomorrow Is Forever" and an epic DS

Nice, brief one towards the end of a great DS

It sounds like Jerry especially is happy to keep ripping on the outro awhile longer but Billy overrules him and pounds it to a halt. No complaints here though -- might be shorter than most E72 versions, but it's very good and gets bonus points for the unique place in the setlist for this tour.

I love all 48:07 of this towering beast! If you listen with the right how shall I say...enhancement, you can feel the g-force as you're driven back into your seat and launched into the far reaches of the galaxy. I like Pig's involvement in this one...adds to the creepiness while we're traversing through space and then adds to the sense of calm when the spaceship finally lands down by the riverside for one of the longer Sugar Mags of E72. Also, I hear Cosmic Charlie teases in addition to the aforementioned Caution, Bird Song, Truckin' and Playing ones...

First time listening to this show today and wow, killer version! I agree that Tuscaloosa is #1 and I would probably keep Cornell #2, but this one can definitely hold its own with the best of them. I think what makes the Cornell version so great is the smoothness of the transition -- if you aren't watching to see when the tracks change, you really can't tell when Scarlet ends and Fire begins. It also has perhaps the best Fire. Its Scarlet sags a bit though, whereas Tuscaloosa has an ELITE Scarlet along with a great transition (love those staccato blasts of Jerry's) and a great Fire.

Phil is doing some really cool stuff around the 3-min mark in Supplication

^Depends on the song IMO, heady_eddy. In the case of Peggy-O, slow is definitely better though. Great version and underrated show!
