My birthday show (albeit a few years early). Worth it just to hear what comes out of Bobby's throat at the beginning of the song.

Set I ender from one of my favorite shows. Hot and tight.

From an all-around great show (the extra accent in the count-in must have caused some smiles)

It sounds like the boys gave a little extra on these "American" songs for their European fans.

Nice, tight version of a new American folk song.

Bobby makes up for crapping on the guitar part from the preceding "China" by giving this one some extra gusto, and Garcia's just on tonight. Nice playing from everyone else too! Also, like everything else that I've heard from this show, the tempos are kicked up some, so dig in if that's your thing! And the transition for this is nasty! I think someone was pushing for a move someplace else, but Garcia (and Brent?) wanted to explore the main jam some, so you get music that sounds like it's in two places at once.
China Cat Sunflower -> I Know You Rider

Bobby shat on the opening so bad that Jerry cuts him off (and the flubs a few of the lyrics). Garcia's leads are inventive throughout "China" (fans of 70s-era Dead should love it). Right before "Rider," Garcia plays a riff reminiscent of "GDTRFB," which was neat.

Nice version! Keep pitching these great tunes man!!
Scarlet Begonias -> Fire On The Mountain

The "Scarlet" didn't really grab me, but I should give it another listen. I loved the transition and "Fire," though. That AUD is great; Jerry hits it, and the crowd loses it. Serious version.

Just went back and re-listened; if there was a SBD for this, this show would not be so off the radar. I know there's tons of killer '77 out there, but this is a wonderful show with an obscenely good setlist.
