beautiful reading of this song. Jerry forgets some words, and makes up for it with some expressive singing in the following line.

This song usually gets under my skin, but when it's working like it's supposed to (Bobby's on, set list placement, etc.), I get it.

Help On The Way > Slipknot > Franklin's Tower
Sept. 19, 1990
Madison Square Garden
Anyone who gives this a serious listen and doesn't love it can tell me the next three full shows I will listen to. Oh, won't you come listen to Jerry boogie?
Help On The Way > Slipknot > Franklin's Tower
Sept. 19, 1990
Madison Square Garden
It's exploratory, it's blissful, and the whole set ranges from what I love about his playing with Legion of Mary and the JGB to the harder edge of the later stuff. And if you have the AUD, you can hear the sound bounce around MSG like the best natural reverb/delay ever, and it's trippy.
Help On The Way > Slipknot > Franklin's Tower

Then they hit another verse, slow down some, find another groove, and do it again. And again. And again. There's a great AUD from the 90s, which means the sound is quite frankly better than some of the early tapes, which can be nice.

Absolutely! How is this not higher?!?!?! The tempo on the "Help > Slip" is a little slower because of the new keyboard players (and one of them is Hornsby!). This just helps Jerry stay in the pocket the entire time, and the band boogies. The "Franklin's" is nothing but smiles. The band is SO tight, and Jerry is in so deep rhythmically that everything is flowing. I love his blissed out major pentatonic jamming from any era, and Hornsby has the chops to play off him when the tempo speeds up and it gets away from him.
Standing On The Moon

Thanks for the reply. I've been spending a lot of time in the mid- to late-70s, so the sound of late 90s Dead doesn't do it for me. Still not a fan of this version, but I will check out some more early 90s stuff.
