U.S. Blues (Wave That Flag)
Jan. 22, 1978
McArthur Court, U of Oregon
Smokin' encore. You know the playing was hot when even this is a scorcher.

Samson and Delilah

McArthur Court, U of Oregon
Smokin little number boosts the second set.

New Minglewood Blues
Jan. 22, 1978
McArthur Court, U of Oregon
Bobby seems on this whole night, and Jerry's tone is unreal.

Surprised not to find this here.

The Golden Road (to unlimited devotion)

One of the first Dead songs I ever heard way back in the day. Kicks off a raging Set II.

Scarlet Begonias -> Fire On The Mountain
April 24, 1978
Horton Field House - Illinois State University
Yeah, I don't think this is better than 02-05 by a long shot. Yes, the playing is as superior as you would expect from this time, and Jerry's "let it burn" lights up the band. But Bobby's thin sounding, out-of-tune slide practice mars an otherwise all-time version.
Dancin' in the Streets
May 11, 1978
Springfield Civic Center Arena
Goofy and amped up at the same time. Ending vocal jam is solid and interesting.
Viola Lee Blues
March 18, 1967
Winterland Arena
fantastic, great interplay during the solo. This whole show is phenomenal.
Cold Rain and Snow
March 18, 1967
Winterland Arena
Jerry's on fire all night (and I'm a Garcia fanatic), but you're totally right, Phil makes this. The Pigpen/Garcia interplay is also pretty cool.
Cream Puff War
March 18, 1967
Winterland Arena
Rager, monster Garcia solos.
