Jerry's voice is shot, but his tone is DIALED.

Technically Phil & Friends, but this is a nice (only?) acoustic version. Link: https://archive.org/details/1994-09-24.paf.sbd.zelner-vernon

Nice to hear everyone else rise to the occasion and turn a standard reading into something better.

They continue the blues-themed playing throughout “Stagger Lee” (which has SBD problems (a channel missing?) until about 2 minutes in), “MAMU” (where Bobby sounds vocally fatigued, singing very short phrases with more straining than inflection), > “Mexicali Blues” (highlights are Bobby singing “per-foome” for some reason, and some interesting MIDI trumpet, keyboard, and Bobby interplay, although Weir is quite low in the mix).

Agree that this version is overlooked, but this show has some glaring flaws that Barton and any number of other shows from this run just don't have (first and foremost: huge amounts of dead air and downtime).
The Wheel
May 7, 1977
Boston Garden

Some of the best playing from the entire night. Rather underrated.
Eyes Of The World

Boston Garden

IMHO, this is one of the only tracks from this show truly worth the massive hype surrounding it.
