Jerry is so far into the zone here it’s almost ludicrous. Nice repeated note anchoring idea about 10:00 in, which gives us a hint of the overlapping parts I associate with ’73 era ensemble playing, and the ending vocal jam doesn’t disappoint either.

I think it works as a stand-alone version, from the "Close Encounters" jam, or in the middle of that titanic second set jam. What's not to love about this?

Agree that the version isn't anything out of the ordinary, but it does kick off a great sequence.
