Sugaree
Dec. 30, 1978
Pauley Pavilion
The band is tight and Jerry doesn't miss a beat. Seems like he's surfing with his guitar lines.

China Cat Sunflower -> I Know You Rider
Dec. 2, 1981
Assembly Hall
I think Jerry's working ideas out in new places in the fretboard during the "China" solo, and Brent is contributing some interesting colors.

Nice slow shuffle, and Jerry's playing is quite melodic. But he brings the heat at the end (with some help from Keith).

F– I think this is actually the first '81 I've heard. This is killer stuff. Garcia's in great voice, and the band is fantastically tight.
Eyes Of The World

Uptown Theater
Wish they hadn't stepped on the proverbial rake in the transition though.

Decent version. Worth a hear.
Scarlet Begonias -> Fire On The Mountain
Feb. 27, 1981
Uptown Theater
I'd give the "Scarlet" less then 'meh,' but I also liked the "Fire."
Wharf Rat

Uptown Theater
Nice support from the rest of the band too!
